Purpose of the service

Padlove lets you seal a digital love padlock, engraved with your first names and anchored to a real-world location. A padlock remains "ajar" until your partner has joined you, and then it seals.

Access and account

Access requires a valid email address. You sign in via a magic link. You are responsible for the confidentiality of your mailbox and for the information you publish.

The service is reserved for persons aged at least 16 (see the 16 and Over Policy).

Sealing a padlock

Sealing a padlock is a one-time act, with no subscription and no time commitment. Sealing requires that both members of the couple have joined the padlock.

Payment for sealing

Sealing a padlock may be subject to a charge: it is a one-time act, with no subscription and no automatic renewal. The price, where applicable, is clearly displayed before any payment.

As this is digital content supplied immediately after your express consent, the right of withdrawal may not apply, in accordance with the applicable regulations.

Your content and the licence you grant us

You remain the owner of the first names, texts, photos and other content you publish. You grant us only a non-exclusive, worldwide and royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce and display this content for the sole purpose of operating the service, and in accordance with your visibility settings (public or private).

This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, subject to a brief technical delay for backups. We do not sell your content and do not transfer it to advertisers.

Use of your first names

Depending on your settings, your first names and those engraved on the padlock may be displayed within the service (on your padlock and on the map). They are never used for advertising purposes: no advertising profile is built.

Content and proper use

• You warrant that you hold the rights to the first names, texts and photos you publish.
• Unlawful, hateful, violent content, or content that harms others, is prohibited.
• We may remove manifestly unlawful content and suspend an account in the event of abuse.

Padlove's intellectual property

The "Padlove" brand, the website, the application, their designs and the padlock visuals are protected and remain the property of Padlove. Except with written authorisation, you may not use our trademarks, copy or modify our products, or attempt to extract or decompile their source code.

Account lifecycle: suspension, deletion, separation, death

• You may delete your account at any time; the procedure is described in the Privacy Policy.
• In the event of a serious or repeated breach of these terms, we may suspend or close an account. You are informed of this, with an explanation and, where possible, a means of recourse.
• In the event of a separation, if one of the members obtains that their first name no longer be displayed, we may modify or remove the engraving concerned. The members are informed beforehand.
• In the event of a user's death, their loved ones may contact us so that the account is closed, in accordance with the applicable law.

Liability

The service is provided "as is". We make every effort to ensure its availability, without being able to guarantee a complete absence of interruption. Padlove cannot be held liable for content published by users.

Amendment of these terms

We may change these terms. In the event of a substantial change, we inform you at least 30 days in advance (by email or within the service) and give you the opportunity to review them. Continued use constitutes acceptance; if you do not agree, you may delete your account at any time.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by French law. If you are a consumer residing in another European Union country, you also benefit from the mandatory provisions of your country of residence.

In the event of a dispute, an amicable solution will be sought as a priority; you may use a consumer mediator free of charge. Failing an agreement, the dispute may be brought before the competent French courts.
